Oh yes, its true. This year the Hoover Christmas Traditions lived on. While some are more important to us as a family, there was one that was important to our YWAM family… its the Hoovers sing “White Christmas” tradition. I thought that perhaps by now, it would be an old joke but alas – we found ourselves on stage Christmas afternoon giving a rousing rendition of the old classic!
All in all, we had a wonderful Christmas… After a very late night (or should I say early morning) tearing down Stable on the Strand, we were quite eager to get stuck into celebrating on Christmas Eve. We had a lovely dinner at our friends Ryan & Adriel. There were lots of laughs, yummy food, and Christmas memories.
We were delighted that a package from my mom arrived just in time on Christmas Eve so we came home and opened our Christmas Eve pajamas. We can tell that my parents are now living in the Northwest. Jared’s PJs had deer and mine had bears. We snuggled up in our PJs (Or turned the airconditioner on really high so we could PRETEND to snuggle up) and had a wonderful sleep.
Jared woke up before me on Christmas morning. I think the only other time that has happened in our marriage was when there was a big Packers game that was being aired early here. We had a wonderful morning together, enjoyed the Christmas story and reminiscing about Jesus and then headed to our friends the Davies’ house where we had a big breakfast with friends and enjoyed watching the little ones open presents.
We ended the afternoon with a big party at the base. Over 100 people celebrated Christmas together with lots of fun. It was a great day and we are enjoying the long weekend as well!!
